We Are Here (2023)

Experimental documentary film that explores the journey of two young queer asylum seekers living in Brussels. The film offers an intimate portrayal of their lives, backgrounds, and relationships with the city, using a collaborative methodology in which the filmmaker and the protagonists created and exchanged pieces of footage through the filming process. The film goes through the memories and experiences evoked in places from the protagonists’ own lived experiences, trajectories, identities, and creative voices, giving new life to the city from queer migrant gaze. The film won the 4th A-PLACE Video Production Open Call, and was co-financed with funds from Creative Europe and the A-PLACE Linking Places Through Networked Artistic Practices programme. It was exhibited at Casa Elizalde, Barcelona (2023) and screened at the 27th International LGBTI Film Festival of Extremadura, Spain (2024) and the Zinentiendo International LGBTQI Film Festival (2025).
